Award winning saxophonist & composer Josephine Davies brings her dynamic ensemble Satori to SJN at the Hive to perform the music from ‘Weatherwards’. The album is inspired by Josephine’s Nordic roots in the Shetland Islands, and beautifully weaves together the band’s contemporary jazz background with a hauntingly evocative folk influence. The intricate compositions, coupled with the thrilling interplay between Pianist Alcyona Mick, Bassist Dave Whitford & drummer Jay Davis, evokes the interconnection of Shetland sea, land, sky, and ever-present wind.
