Making it Green: A Pathway to Eco-friendly Art
FULL COURSE OF 4 WORKSHOPS
Develop your knowledge of more environmentally friendly visual art and learn how to reduce your creative carbon footprint. These 4 workshops will explore sustainable creative practice and discuss artistic experimentation of several artists who have led the way with greener art forms. Workshops delivered by local artist Tom Hayes. tomhayes.uk. Must be 16 years + to book.
Workshop 1: An introduction to going green with your art. Examining how and why we create new things when we often need to destroy other things to give us the resources. Special focus on: Land Art and reducing, reusing and recycling.
Workshop 2: Deep dive into natural mediums and how to make more environmentally conscious decisions when deciding upon art materials. Special focus on: Using organic materials from the natural world.
Workshop 3: A study of temporary art forms that challenge our materialistic lives. We will consider primitive art and how their ideas and values have been reimagined for the twenty first century. Special focus on: Installation Art and Performance Art.
Workshop 4: An exploration of new technologies and their relative environmental impacts. We will explore how to extend our current creative practices through incorporating new media. Special focus on: Digital Art, video and photography.
